With a name like Bartholomew, Bartholomew Clements Miller was more than just glad someone early on in his years had the foresight to hang the tag "Bart" on him. Now, as he scanned the stack of mail, he found that with the exception of junk mail and solicitations, most of his friends, at least the ones who could write, had the good sense to use the more abbreviated form of his name.
